The Nevada Builders Alliance held a reception Monday for its board of directors and Carson City dignitaries at the former Jack's Bar on South Carson Street, renamed The Bank Saloon.

The event highlighted the progress the Alliance has made since breaking ground in April, including the completion of the structural shell.

After purchasing the historic Jack's Bar in June 2018, NBA partnered with Miles Construction and has begun work on the building, including structure stabilization, asbestos abatement and laying out the floor plan for the saloon.

CEO Aaron West originally had plans to renovate the building to the way it looked when it first opened. However, the damage to the interior was so severe due to years of neglect and a massive colony of pigeons that took up residence, that plans had to change.

NBA hopes to open the Bank Saloon open by Nevada Day 2020.

The Bank Saloon is located at 418 S. Carson St. The bar first opened as the Bank Saloon in 1899, and became Jack's Bar in the 1970s.

West noted that construction crews found artifacts under the bar's old floor that will be presented publicly at a later date. One was a drink token from the original Bank Saloon when it opened.

The plan is to bring a modern feel to the bar, while retaining some historic feel and textures. Plans for the renovations also include a 20-person conference that can open up to the bar as well, with offices in the back for the Nevada Builder's Association Headquarters.
